A simple skincare routine for sensitive skin: where to start

A simple skincare routine for sensitive skin starts with a useful question: what does your skin need today? You do not have to buy a complete collection or follow every routine you see online. A comfortable cleansing step, a moisturiser you tolerate and suitable daytime sun protection form a practical starting point.

Clime Kind’s approach is to make each choice understandable. That includes knowing which products are fragrance-free, which contain fragrance, and where an extra step is genuinely optional.

Start by choosing your essentials

Think about your current routine before adding anything. Does your face feel tight after washing? Is your moisturiser comfortable under sunscreen? Have you previously reacted to fragrance? These observations will help you choose more usefully than a long list of trending ingredients.

For light daytime moisture, Daily Barrier Rescue Moisturiser combines aloe juice, glycerin, Sodium PCA, hyaluronic acid and jojoba oil. It is one of the two fragrance-free facial moisturisers in our range. Fragrance-free is a useful selection criterion, although it cannot guarantee that every skin will tolerate every ingredient.

Put the morning steps in a clear order

  1. Cleanse as needed with a suitable product and lukewarm water.
  2. If you already enjoy a hydrating toner and tolerate it, use it after cleansing.
  3. Smooth on your moisturiser without vigorous rubbing.
  4. Apply suitable sun protection according to its own directions.

The American Academy of Dermatology’s face-washing guidance recommends fingertips rather than scrubbing tools. A brief, gentle wash is a better place to begin than repeatedly cleansing until the skin feels squeaky.

Clime Kind’s Sensitive Skin Face & Body Cleanser is a wash-off option, but it contains fragrance, Sodium Coco-Sulfate and hydrolysed wheat protein. If you avoid these ingredients, choose another cleanser you already tolerate. A product’s name is not a substitute for checking its full ingredient list.

Keep evening care equally manageable

At night, remove the day’s make-up and sunscreen using products and methods suited to their directions. There is no need to assume that every cleanser removes waterproof formulas in one wash. The aim is clean, comfortable skin rather than a fixed number of cleansing rounds.

Follow with your chosen moisturiser. Overnight Barrier Recovery Cream offers a richer, fragrance-free texture with jojoba oil and mango seed butter. Its label directs one to three pumps over the face, neck and décolleté. Start with the amount your skin needs within those directions; more product does not automatically make the routine more effective.

If your shelf already contains a cleanser and moisturiser that you like, keep them while assessing what is missing. Starting simply can mean changing nothing except wash technique or making time for your existing moisturiser. A new brand does not require a fresh start with every bottle.

Add slowly, and listen to discomfort

A toner can be a pleasant hydration step, but it is not required to make a routine complete. Introduce one new product at a time so you can recognise how your skin responds. Follow label instructions and test a small area before wider use; home testing does not diagnose an allergy.

Neither facial moisturiser contains SPF. The AAD’s dry-skin advice includes separate broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sun protection. Persistent burning, marked irritation or troublesome dryness deserves professional advice. A good starting routine is simply one you can use comfortably and understand.
